Blu is book number three in the Violet Chin series. I have been itching to read this since I finished with book number two. There is something magnetic about this group of friends that makes me want to know as much about them as possible.
So I cracked open Blu and from the first moment I was hooked. There was so much going on that caused me to wince and then start to admire, I mean really admire, Christopher Blu.
Pearl was a terrorized young woman that Blu found himself willing to help then overcome her fear then just wanting to be there for her. Wanting in all the ways he thought were over for him.
It was beautiful to see both of them bloom. Pearl with the taste of freedom and consideration and a total lack of abuse. Blu to open his eyes and heart to someone besides the person that had almost destroyed him. But no one especially Blu can trust his motives.
J. Kahele shares his story with humor, compassion and gritty truth. So much was going on in this book, I really was unable to put it down. I drank it in at one sitting.
This book has a little bonus peek into the future. One series of books that should not be missed. Now I have to patiently wait on book four. It will not be easy.
Below are the first two reviews from the Violet Chain Series.
This book is amazing. There is so much to love about it. First of all I fell in love with Chain. He has made himself into a very prominent developer and has a plan for his life. He has had a past that could have left him broken and sad, but he deals with that in his own way. He is a kind man that once he realizes his feelings wants them to be returned.
Violet was hurt by her cheating fiancee and struggles to get on with life after being hurt by Harrison’s actions. She is not wanting to commit to anyone or anything and is struggling to even get out of bed. Her brother’s are wonderful guys also. They are pained to see her in such a state.
When she meets Chain she is attracted to him as he is a very handsome man. Even after she Googles him she is still attracted. He has a bit of a playboy reputation, but all she wants is to have one night with him. No matter how much she wants it to only be one night together, Chain seems to want more from her. She seems to want him more than once as it seems, she just is so afraid to open herself up to more hurt.
The friends in the book are such a cute couple with their eccentric ways, they liven up the story just by being there. Callie and David are very important to the story.
All the characters are complex and you really get to know them all. J. Kahele has done an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. This book has laughs and tears and a nervous tension that adds to the story. It is a really great read! I am now going to read the second book and get to know them even more. The story does continue in the second book.
This is the review of Book 2 in the Violet Chain Series.
After reading the first book of the series, I wasn’t sure where else the story could go. I was mistaken. There was so much depth to this book. I knew that Chain had secrets in his life, he had stopped speaking to his father years before. These secrets threaten to tear he and Violet apart. These secrets eat away at him and keep him from being open with her about his past and his estrangement from his father.
Violet has dealt with the betrayal by Harrison and had completely moved on. The dangers in her life are on her mind and affect her building relationship. Chain wants to support and comfort her through the process.
There are twists and turns in this book that I never saw coming. My heart was breaking at many parts of the book. So many emotions were generated by the trials and tribulation of Violet and Chain.
Vince and Victor as well as David and Callie are back in this second book and are as personable and lovable as always. This was another very enjoyable book by J. Kahele. Great writing and a great story.
