The story by Agatha Christie is just excellent. Miss Marple and the inspector come together to solve a series of murders. It seems that someone is murdering people while following the theme of a nursery rhyme.
When one body is found with a pocket full of rye, another is found in the parlor and then the maid is found in the garden, who can question that it is not about blackbirds.
I love the humorous way that the characters interact. Miss Marple is so feisty and intuitive. She brings the clues together in such a perfect manner that it just makes sense.
The Inspector is not really expecting her to put all the pieces together when he allows her to nose around the crime scene.
This AudioBook of A Pocket Full of Rye was wonderful to listen to. This was performed by multiple people and was presented as a dramatization. I realized as I was listening that I had read this when I was a teenager. I was glad to be reminded. I love Agatha Christie’s brain. It is an excellent mystery.

The Pale Horse is a really dark mystery. There are scenes that are just down right creepy. There are spells and threats that lend a spooky air to this book.
I listened to The Pale Horse from Audible and found it very intense during those witch scenes. The mystery begins with the murder of a Catholic priest. He has a list of names in his shoe and that turn out to be a list of dead people. When Mark Easterbrook begins to look into this mystery because his godmother is on the list. Mark was a great character. He is intelligent and he is curious.
I found the humor lovely, just as I usually do from Agatha Christie. I liked it a lot. I liked the character Ginger. I was laughing as she and Mark were plotting together. Great fun story.
The story really kept me guessing. I loved that at the end, I had not guessed the correct suspect. It is a really wonderful book that I had missed reading when I was reading a lot of Agatha Christie books. I was happy to have lucked up on this AudioBook.
The Page Turner 
I read loads of Agatha Christie years ago, though I don’t remember much about the plots. Must admit I got tired of them eventually to the point where I gave up on ‘Endless Night’ three pages from the end!

I can understand burning out on an author. Maybe it is time to pick one up again! I had to stop reading Earle Stanley Garner after a while, but I think it is time to pick up a good ole Perry Mason book. 🙂 “gets out book bucket list”

I hope you get to. She is a fun writer. Her characters are unusual and she gets the gritty details out of them in the most unexpected ways. They are not hard reads so you don’t have to commit a lot of time to a huge book. It is something you should do. At least just once. This is a great book to start with.
