Book Review: The Haunting of a Duke by Chasity Bowlin

The Haunting of a Duke (Dark Regency, #1)The Haunting of a Duke by Chasity Bowlin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great Gothic mystery and romance

Rhys Brammel, the Duke of Briarleigh, doesn’t trust Emme as she is rumored to be a psychic. She has been brought to his home by his mother to solve the mystery of his wife’s death was actually murder. Murder rumored to be by the Duke. Rhys believed that she must be a charlatan or a fake. He planned on

He finds her in the night she is wandering the house and seems to be unaware of her environment. He watches her and finds that he is drawn to her. He begins to worry about her safety after a medium that was also invited to the home is murdered.

Emme is being approached by the ghost of a young girl. She wakes up in strange places in the house and knows she is being led to solve a mystery. As Rhys watches her and hears what she is seeing begins to believe in her gift of communicating with ghosts when he recognizes the little girl ghost. Rhys finds himself wanting to protect Emma. Emma finds herself falling for the Duke. Working together Rhys and Emma try to solve the mysteries that are showing themselves to Emma. Their story is sweet and adds to the complete package.

This book has a great cast of characters. I really liked Rhys and Michael. I also loved Emme. She is a nicely crafted character. The telling of an old romance is beautifully written. The childhood relationship leading to true love. The mystery, ghosts and romance are equally engaging. This is a very interesting and haunting book. This book is available for free on Amazon and is a great treasure. I enjoyed it immensely.

  1. Hi Vicki — would you be interested in reviewing my novel, “Oil and Water”? It’s available on Amazon and there is synopsis there if you want to check it out. I would, of course, gift you a copy in exchange for a review, either paperback or Kindle. LMK and thanks!

  2. Either form is fine with me. I can review either. Kindle is faster if you want a quicker review. If you have a hard copy and want to send it I can give you my address.

I will let you go with whichever you prefer 🙂
