Official Book Blurb:

Becky Jordan has had it with relationships. From now on her time and dedication won’t be lavished on her latest Mr. Wrong-or, worse, Mr. Hell-No!-just the dream travel job which has unexpectedly leapt into her lap. Finally, life is looking great.

Unfortunately, not as great as her sizzling-hot, take-charge new boss. Matt Frobisher is everything she doesn’t want him to be, but if anyone thinks she’ll risk her career on a workplace fling they can think again. No amount of Superman behaviour from him will make her roll over and play Lois.

At least, that’s what her head says. Her heart, however, doesn’t do logical. In desperation she finds herself a Mr. Distraction, one with no strings and plenty of appeal. But Mr. Distraction also comes with unforeseen complications. Kryptonite complications, like Becky’s sister. And when she shows up there’s only one sure thing: not even Superman can prevent the Disaster Fest that’s about to blow Becky’s life apart.

(Contains one guy determined to win the girl, one girl determined not to be won, and plenty of heat in the middle.)

Meet Maggie Le Page:

SONY DSC

Maggie Le Page lives in Christchurch, New Zealand (aka QuakeZone) with her partner, two children, and a snooty cat who thinks they’re all her slaves. Her days are spent running around after kids or doing one of her ‘real’ jobs, so her writing generally happens in the dead of night. (Morning? Ha! She’s a third-generation night owl. Enough said.)

Maggie loves chocolate, hates being cold, and is ever fascinated by the possibility of time travel. Obviously, her ideal experience would be to wake up on a tropical island eighty years into the future, with an endless supply of chocolate on hand.

Book Review:

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

When I saw the back blurb on A Heat of the Moment Thing by Maggie Le Page, I was hooked. I wanted to read this book and write a review for #ComedyBookWeek. I thought it sounded like it would be a funny and romantic book and I was not wrong. That made me very happy because I hoped to be able to say I liked this book, and I can say that in all honesty, I more than liked it, I loved it enough to give it 5 hearts.

I started the book late in the evening and read until I finished it early the next morning. It is hard to go to sleep when you are laughing at the hilarity that is in this book.

The words that Maggie Le Page uses are perfect to stimulate laughter. The scenes are funny and so realistic. There are some wonderful characters in the story that enhance Becky’s life. Characters like Jim and Liz help Becs as she barrels her way through bad choices and worse lies. There are several characters that cause her a lot of hurt. I leave it to you to sort them all out.

Becky Jordan has just gotten over an embarrassing interoffice relationship that left her humiliated and for the new year’s resolution she is swearing off men. Then she finds herself in the presence of a real live hero. When the fantasy and the reality of the hero gets blurred, she finds herself running away from him and running into him all the time.

Matt Frobisher is a good looking should I say, a very good looking man that has sworn to be a bachelor his entire life. The entire office knows this about him and accepts it. When the new girl in the office finds out who he is, she is so shocked and the more she finds out about him the more enamored she becomes. All the while fighting herself. Then Becky chooses to make a monumental mistake. This is where the trouble starts in earnest.

This book is fun, hilarious, and tender. It also made me sad to see what can happen when people are not honest and listen to bad advice from their friends. There is also such growth and maturity that takes place, making it a very emotional book.

I really enjoyed this book and now I am ready to read more of Maggie Le Page’s books. I have a feeling they are going to be fun too. I was provided a copy of this book in order to take part of this event. My reviews are my own honest opinion.

Recommendation:

I laughed out loud in quite a few different scenes. That to me implies a great sense of humor and lots of comedy. The story was more than just slapstick comedy, there was heart and soul in the characters. I highly recommend this book when you want a funny lovely book.

  2. COOL, Vicki! This looks like a great book. I have a soft spot for romance, and this one looks particularly good b/c it’s mixed with a comedy … seems somehow more down-to-earth. Like that you review with hearts. ❤ Blessings
