    My Review:

I was offered a chance to review a lovely mystery that introduces us to Agnes Kelly. This is a really fun middle-grade children’s book with a very interesting plot. Taking place in Istanbul Turkey.

The book starts on a sad note, and we learn that Agnes’ father has recently passed away. When her distant grandmother comes for the funeral she offers Agnes a trip to Istanbul with her.

While she is there, she tries to solve the mystery of what she overheard at the funeral and also learn about other people and their culture. The characters that Agness and her grandmother meet in Istanbul are diverse and very unique. they moved the story along in a fun way. It is a very intelligent book and middle school children will really enjoy reading this adventure book.

I can not wait for the next book to come out to see where that takes Agnes and perhaps her curious grandmother as well. There are still questions about her father’s death that have not been addressed.

I loved that there are definitions in the book allowing children to learn bigger and better words. Anytime a vocabulary can be improved upon, it is a good thing. This book is also written from the protagonist’s viewpoint so there are quite a few chatty moments with the reader and I liked that special touch as well.
