Sometimes you pick up a book, say it contains five stories and you think, ahh an easy read. Then you open the book and your mind becomes involved in one intense story after another. Each story full of life meanings remorse, repentance and regret. This is what happened when I picked up Bedtime for Seneca. This book of five tragic tales is rich with emotional stories that give you a glimpse of the energy behind each family and their struggles.
There are some ethereal characters that I simply loved. Some homelier characters appeared that I did not love so much and a few characters that were nothing like I expected. This book is really wonderful in that the endings are not pat and happy. That’s not to say they are sad and gloomy, they are in fact unique and thoughtful.
Fanciful stories that light the imagination and make you wonder exactly what is going on, there is always more the story. Each story carries you past the title and into the world of friends, families, and unexpected situations.
The illustrations are eye-catching and intriguing. They are created by the artist Ian H Durneen and add a depth to the book.
I am posting this review during Mystery Thriller Week. The annual event to celebrate mystery and thriller authors, bloggers, and fans.
This is more than a small book of five stories, it is an adventure. I was glad I read this.
