My Review:

I was not sure exactly what I expected, but I expected to be more riveted to the book than I was. I had to make myself keep reading. I found it a little dry and redundant. I wanted to love this book about discovering and translating a secret code int he bible that tells more about a true and living God.  It did not do that for me.  I learned a lot about a man and his dreams, his curiosity and his faith.  That was worth the three stars.

I requested this book to read and review from Blogging for books and was not as enthused with it as I had hoped when the publishers allowed me to have a copy in advance. I love finding codes, hearing about the thrilling moments of discovery and the emotion that it evokes. So the disappointment was real. It was too much introspection and not enough hidden messages. I take it fromthis book that reading the bible will inlock truths hidden inside you. But I already  knew that.

To me, it was just too slow getting to the subject and there was no real excitement in the discovery. It was glossed over as boring paragraphs. It made me a bit bored and I never felt the spark of discovery and amazement

I do not like having to give it a low score but to be fair, I did not like having to keep reading it when I found it so tiring.  It was an ok read for me. Now it truly pains me to give it a three. Truth is, that’s all I could muster for it.

I made myself continue in order to provide a fair and honest review, all the while hoping for more.  It never reached that level for me.

This book releases on April 4, 2017 and I hope others find what they are looking for in this book, I did not.

  1. The first Bible Code book by Michael Drosnin claimed to unlock real secrets, such as the prediction of JFK’s assassination, the Roswell crash and yet another apocalypse that never occurred (he beat the Mayans by six years). It’s been thoroughly debunked, but some people still hold on, hence a book like this one that tries to tread more carefully.

When a book discusses how cryptographers decipher complex texts, such as the Voynich manuscript, I love it. When it claims to find hidden messages in the Bible, Kama Sutra or US Consitution, I tend to run away. (Unless I’m in a mood for laughs.) Your review confirms that impulse.
