Tainted Cure is book one of The Rememdium Series. It is an exciting intense story about what happens when scientists work on a cure for Addiction and they succeed. The medicine will change the way the brain of an addict functions. So what could go wrong with that? In a word, Everything. There are other interested parties that have their own motives. There are dangerous groups at work. There is government involvement and secrets kept that lead to a catastrophe.
The story is quite interesting and allows the reader’s mind to wander at these possibilities. The medicine is not innocuous. It is causing people to do things that they should not be doing, such as living after death. And crave human flesh. Oh yes, this book has zombies. Lots of aggressive human seeking zombies. The government has gotten involved and there is worldwide chaos.
So let me say this about the Audiobook. I loved the narration. The narrator, Rebecca Roberts, did excellent voices that kept all the characters clear in my mind. I could recognize right away who was speaking. It was great.
This is my first zombie book. I did not expect it to hold my interest as it did. It was really a good story. Ashley Fontainne made it easy to understand what was going on. Not always the case with scientific jargon and theme. Even with all the exploding heads and gray matter oozing, I enjoyed it. So I might have been a little afraid of the Dystopian genre before, but I admit that now I am game to try it again.
If you have never tried Dystopian, then this would be an excellent book to begin with. The characters are realistic and you come to know them very well. You see the good and the bad of them. This is an amazing story that will make you question which is worse, the addiction or the cure.

The Rememdium series started off with Tainted Cure, the story of Dr. Everett Berning’s secret project that seemed to be the cure for addiction. A secret project that went terribly wrong when it fell into the wrong hands. Not adding any spoilers but wanting to introduce the first book before reviewing Book 2. Tainted Reality, book 2 picks up exactly where Tainted Cure drops off. You are back into the tension and the ugliness of the laboratory that has caused such damage and worse yet, zombies. Soldiers are seeking out the contaminated people and ridding society of the infected people that they find.
We also are following The police Chief, Regina Parker. Regina has a small group of survivors hiding, making friends with each other, and watching the carnage that is happening right outside the local WalMart. The infiltrating zombies are certainly keeping them all on their toes.
Ashley Fontainne has brought me into a genre that I had never suspected I could love. But these books are amazing. The characters are very well crafted and have such great personalities. When special fiercely strong people are wounded and facing death, I cried. These strong, wonderful people are so close to me after two books.
I am listening to the audiobook and it is wonderful to hear Rebecca Roberts as the narrator. As she has a wide variety of voices that she shares throughout the book. You learn to recognize each character by their voice.
I would recommend that you read book one before touching this book. I also recommend that you take the time to read Tainted Cure and Tainted Reality. Excellent reads that make you think about what you would do in a similar situation and how much damage can medicine can do when in the wrong hands. I didn’t want to include anything that would spoil book one if you haven’t read it. This is a series that both is entertaining and emotional.
