Ain’t Got Time For That!

November began on a positive note with NaNoWriMo going full swing.  Wrote every day and  maintained a nice little schedule. For those that would never believe it, I maxed out in my multitasking. I got involved with #MysteryThrillerWeek and between setting up the bones for the participating bloggers, authors, and specialists with Benjamin and Sherrie, and working on the Facebook page for the hourly hosting , I missed a day of writing. Do I pick up today and pretend it didn’t happen?  I am in a quandary.

I am writing, letter, schedules, my three-month production plan, reviews, and more letters. I am having a blast. I am excited about the week. I am excited to be making new friends and finding new authors and their work.

Locating book reviewers and requesting that they join in and sending those tweets to publicists, authors, bloggers and trying not to be annoying. It is a juggling act. Perfect for a multitasker like me.  Then I realized I had not written a word for NaNo yesterday. I was pretty aggravated with myself. I mean I am a queen at multitasking. How had that happened? So instead of racing over to Scrivener and whipping out a few words, I decided to write a blog post, a few more contact letter, Tweet out a few invitations, and hold a chat with Sian, Benjamin, and Sherrie. Oh yes, even I have multitasking limits. This was enlightening to me.  Today I grew in knowledge of myself. I have a limit and once I reach it, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”

By the way, if you have not joined us for #MysteryThrillerWeek now is the time. We are getting some excellent authors willing to provide books for review, interviews and those much loved Character Q&A’s. Just think of it like this, if you sign up, you get to see one of those letters I have been writing.  That’s right! An official Welcome letter will wing its way to you compliments of the Events Team!

Recap of the Indie Author Day Event on Facebook

Let me start by saying that when I first heard of the event I was immediately interested. What a wonderful way to meet other indie authors and learn from them. As an author of an indie publication, the marketing for the book falls on my doorstep.  I can use all the help I can get.

The day started at Midnight EST and I stayed up until 5:30 so that I could support the other authors and make sure they were not alone.  That was the number one fear. That no one would show up for the hour.  It was great to actually see how many readers and writers showed up for each hour.

The questions were interesting and extremely thought provoking. So many people asked for advice on publishing and writing. As an indie author, that is a huge question. Everyone has their own writing schedule and timetable, so it was so enlightening to see how others plan out their writing day.

Indie Author Day is October 8, 2016

I am slow on the uptake and just found out about Indie Author day. Today I spoke to one of the librarians at my local library and they did not know about the special day either. John at the  Clark County Library said he would look into it. I hope they are able to find a way to celebrate it with the people in the county. For a state by state and county by county listing of participating libraries, you can click here.

Speaking of Libraries, this week I will be attending my very first writer’s group this Friday at 10:00. If you know me by now, you will know that I am a bit timid, and I do not leave my house much.  I fly solo like most writers and enjoy my alone time with the computer, my books, and my notepads. So attending this is my big step out into this wide world of other writers. I was asked to bring five pages of written material with me from a current work in progress or something else I was writing. I was also asked to bring 2 copies of my book for the library to have in their local author’s area. How exciting is that?

But, I digress, back to the topic at hand.  Indie Author Day. I am so excited that there is a day celebrating all the indie authors. Some of the indie authors are becoming quite well known. Authors like,  Ana Spoke, have sold thousands of copies of  Shizzle, Inc. and continues to create even more books, like Indiot,  in her Isa Maxwell series. Colleen Hoover has also made quite a name for herself in the Indie market with her books,  Finding Cinderella and Maybe Not. There is a real market for Indie books and it is a wonderful thing that Indie Author Day exists.

So check with your own local library and see if they have anything special planned for October 8, 2016. Libraries are for so much more than just borrowing a book. There are adult reading groups, adult writing groups and at our local library, there is a local  history group. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet people that love books, history, and reading as much as you do.

A-Z PE Challenge Day 10 (J)

This challenge is to post a different blog daily starting with the letter from A to Z.

Today we are celebrating the jovial letter J!

The Blog dejour is:

J. C. Cauthon, Author

J.C. has a wonderful blog that tells the steps and struggles of being an author.  She shares her progress on works in progress as well as book reviews of books that she is reading.  She writes polished and very honest reviews.

Each month she shares her previous month’s words count and explains about her world building and publishing processes. J.C. is also very personable and friendly with her followers. She visits their blogs and offers comments and encouragement.

She also lives on a farm in North Carolina and I enjoy when she shares about her 31 or so cats and kittens.  How impressive that they each have a name, and she remembers them.

J.C. Cauthon has several books available on Amazon. She is really a prolific writer, with usually several books in the works at any given time. I think visiting her blog will be an enjoyable visit.

She is also the author of the Daily Prompt 2016 that I use so often. Her prompts are fun and they spark my imagination so well

About the A-Z PE challenge.

This is a fun way to showcase blogs that you like and people that you want to know better. Come join us on the 26 day challenge!

This challenge was created by gapawa.

He came up with the A-Z People Edition challenge and it is an awesome idea. If you want to join in the fun, then just join in.There is no set date or month. Just 26 days of your choosing. Here is the link to the instructional blog you can visit

Here is a Quote from his blog explaining his motivation for this fun challenge.

” This is the people edition! So on the first day you find someone who’s screen name starts with A and you check out their blog. The idea is that you read through some of their posts, introduce yourself and give them some feedback. Then, write your post of the day and publish it, describing who the person is and your experience finding and interacting with them, what you thought of their posts. What you came away with. I think it could be fun:)”
