Goodreads is a site I go to on a regular basis. Both as an author with books listed and as a reader with reviews showing. I created my account before I became an author and I write under a pseudonym so I didn’t think to check and see if my book was up there. Then one day I checked. It was there! I had to make a new account to attach it to the author page. From there, it was a race to learn as fast as possible how to make Goodreads a good fit for me. Me the author, not me the reviewer.
Thank you, Robbie Cheadle from Robbie’s Inspiration for nominating me for this award. Robbie was sweet enough to nominate me for this as I was recuperating from Mystery Thriller Week. I really appreciate you thinking of me.

I am not sure if you are familiar with Smashwords, but there are so many books there in ebook format. Tomorrow, March 5. 2017, begins a week of discounted books in all genres. A sales catalog will be made available at midnight pacific time and for a solid week, books will be discounted 25%, 50% and 75% off original price. Many will be free for this week.
My own book, The Path of the Child, is located on page 70 of the group titled over 50,000 words and about half way down. You can click the link and find it. There is a discount code provided as it is discounted by 50% to the price of $ .99.
The Path of the Child is the story of one lonely girls’ transition as she sets out to find her own backstory. A story that has been hidden away from her by her neglectful mother. Melanie is a strong young woman that will have to make many hard decisions but always with the hope of having a life complete with happiness and joy. The path she travels is uplifting and trying and may be more than one person can handle. Meet Melanie and share her journey today. I write under the pseudonym of Sojourner McConnell.
This is a great opportunity to pick up books and find new authors. Many authors have several books available all at these deep discounts. This event only runs until the 11th of March, then the prices revert back. The above links will not show the participating books until midnight PST, that is 3 am Est and 8 am GMT.
Take your nest egg and pick up a few new deep discounted book and have a nice read along. With the prices as they are, it is the perfect opportunity to bulk up that “to be read pile”.
Remember that the best gift you can give an author is an honest review. It doesn’t take a wordy post, just a few words sharing your opinion of the book. Authors love it and it helps a new book get a second glance.
I can’t wait to go shopping. See you at Smashwords.
My friend—we’ll call her A for reasons that will become clear—belonged to an online support group for unpublished authors. Everybody was nice and, as the name implies, supportive. Members even met in person and became true friends, like A and one of the women she met in the group (we’ll call her B). But then something happened.
I was so honored to be asked by Yvonne Mason to be on her online radio program. She is a mystery/thriller writer in her own right, and I was excited to say yes. I am starting her book The Mad Hatter this evening and I can’t wait.
The hour-long event was so fun. Once I put my nerves aside. I am not the most outgoing person, but I am in line for the most talkative award. The interview was about my writing as Sojourner McConnell and I was able to share the story behind The Path of the Child. I was also able to discuss Mystery Thriller Week and my WIPs .
October 23, 2016, Benjamin Thomas asked what I thought about emulating #ComedybookWeek with an event for Mystery and Thriller books. I was excited about the idea. We began to brainstorm and the picture of this huge event started coming together. A multi-platform blow-out event with authors, bloggers, and other media people working together to support this genre. Benjamin procured the www.mysterythrillerweek.com site and we were off.
In just one day, we had several authors on board and a writing specialist willing to not just provide copies of her books, but provide a hands-on workshop for writers through the hour hosting project on Facebook. Rayne Hall has experience and is willing to share her knowledge live on Facebook.
Once we saw that there was genuine interest Benjamin recruited Sherrie Marshall onto the team. Sherrie was a great addition and has spearheaded some creative contest ideas for the week. She is working on the newest contest opportunity and is excited to be able to announce it very soon.
J. Schlenker has created a badge for the inaugural participants for posting on their blog and websites. It looks amazing on an email too.
What else is needed to make this a huge success? Fans, bloggers, more authors, aspiring mystery thriller writers, aspiring narrators, and anyone that wants to learn writing skills technique from the best. So if you were inspired by the groovy badges, the potential to win the amazing contest prizes, to meet favorite and new authors, then Mystery Thriller Week is the place to be in February. Now is the time to sign up to enjoy all the perks and opportunities.
We already have some hard hitters in the blogging community and would love to see you added to the list along with Bookish Wormy, The Blithering Bibliomaniacs, The Suspense Is Thrilling Me and over 30 more.
Let’s get you signed up now! Official Sign up .
Once you are a participating author or specialist, you can choose an hour that is convenient for you and host your own Facebook event. Making it as special as you would like. It is your moment in the spotlight.
We will promote it with you and send out invitations to make it a success. Invite all your fans in to meet with you and find new readers and fans at the same time.
I hope you are inspired to join us, blast out announcements of the event on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and personal blogs. Share this with all your fans and friends. Without each component, this will not be the success that it has the potential to be. Book reviewers check out the list of books available to read and review. There are audiobooks being provided by participating authors and narrators like Jake Urry, the new voice in Thrillers and Mysteries.
Interviews are being scheduled and this could be your time to interview on of the almost 75 authors and specialists signed up thus far. Truly there is something for everyone. Feel free to ask questions. There is so much going on, it would take a massive blog post to cover it all.
I can’t wait to work with you all on #MTW!
Three days of writing, thinking, planning, and adjusting preconceived notions, have provided me with 6425 words, loosely four chapters and a pretty good idea of where this story is heading. The mystery is afoot, one clue is in hand. The key to the clue is missing. The meeting of minds is commencing. The inane doxology of ice cream has been spoken.
Did you know that post it notes were invented in 1980? There was no valid use for the weak glue until four years later when the 3M inventor’s friend decided to use it to hold his pen in place on his choir book. Yes, that’s the holy grail of this researcher’s treasure hunt.
I have not quite gotten to the one little blurb I presented myself with last month for inclusion into the book. Yet, it is only three days in. what did I expect? After a flying start, an overwhelming night, and a night of sleep, things started to get on an even keel today. Since it was a day scheduled to spend some time with the editor on the Shepherds book, I didn’t even approach NaNoWriMo writing until 8:00 pm.
Still working on the plans for #MysteryThrillerWeek. I am loving the ideas for the event, just need more bloggers and authors involved. Make this event helper happy, sign up and let us see that interest. You can find us at mysterythrillerweek.com, at Goodreads.com, and at Facebook.com . come join the fun. Get your name out in the public eye, have reviews provided, meet your fellow authors, meet publicists. This event is for and about you.
