New Release Book Review: Sunset Sail by Shannyn Leah

Sunset Sail (The Caliendo Resort, #3)Sunset Sail by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sunset Sail is the third book in the Caliendo Resort series. The Caliendo resort has been working on a merger with the Cohen Cruise line and there is a three week cruise to finalize things.

Many of the sisters are on board and so are the Cohen family. Grayson the son the his father the, “Silver Fox” Brock Cohen. The Caliendo’s are a great family with siblings that protect each other and challenge each other and mostly love one another. If you haven’t started the series, you can pick it up here and then get caught up later. But you should get to know them.

Emma Caliendo is known to be set in her ways, serious and very clear about who she wants to stay clear of. Especially when he is a womanizer, has been from way back and she knew it. She remembered him and his behavior from school. She also knew that he was a tease. He keeps teasing her about them making magic together but she is very leery of the reputation that Grayson has. He finds himself more than just wanting a one night stand with her and that confuses him. When Emma finds out more about the real Grayson Cohen, she finds herself more tempted than she ever imagined. That she had already felt a pull to his handsome face and those green eyes make her even more unsteady. You will love the heat, passion and the combustion of these two people.

I love the humor that Shannyn Leah meshes into her really sizzling stories. She makes the characters more alive and she makes me want to really get to know them and hang out with them. I liked Grayson. He was broken inside, he had reason to be broken inside. He had a reason to not trust and not offer or expect forever. Emma was a girl that did not want to be hurt. She had seen what happened when people loved casually and she did not want that for herself. I love that Shannyn lets you see inside these people and love them hurts, fears and all.

I have enjoyed all the books and wonderful stories in both series. They have been showing up since the beginning and teasing us to know more about them. I was glad to see Emma get her story told. What a great book it is. This is another winning book. Deserving the 5 stars that I am capped at giving, I could have happily gone much higher.

Sunset Sail by Shannyn leah releases on June 28, 2016 and is available in paperback and in Kindle Edition at Amazon

Release Day Book Review: Sunset Rivalry by Shannyn Leah

Sunset Rivalry (The Caliendo Resort #2)Sunset Rivalry by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have just finished reading an ARC of Sunset Rivalry on the books Release Day. I was provided the copy by Shannyn Leah in exchange for an honest review.

My honest opinion is, once again Shannyn Leah brought two wonderful, passionate and generous characters to life. The book is the 2nd in the Caliendo Resort series and the more I learn about this family the more I love them.

The Caliendo children and their mother had been ruled by Robert a very devious and cruel man. He built their family’s empire which included a resort and everything nice that money could buy. He also brought pain and secrets into their life. That was something that money couldn’t touch. Yet each book I read about this family shows what strong and compassionate people they turned out to be.

Anya is no exception. She has been missing for two years. No one knows what she is doing or where she is. When she shows back up at the resort sneaking in during the dead of night, Marc brings Quinn Barker back to the resort to find her.

Quinn was working for Robert two years ago and the family and especially Anya do not trust him. After all, he seems to be the same type of man that Robert was. What they do not know is that Quinn was out to find his own file. A file that can answer all the questions he has had for many years.

When Anya returns she is a shadow of her former self. Skin and bones and washed out. She is not happy when she sees Quinn. He had broken her heart two years earlier, how could she trust that he would not do it again.

These two people were on fire for each other. I rooted for them t find love as their common ground. To find trust and acceptance. The writing was brilliant. The story was electric. I totally enjoyed this book. There is so much involved in their lives, with surprises and excellent dialogue. Shannyn Leah really brought everything to this book and it worked out wonderfully. Another great book in a wonderful series.

As a bonus here is the review on book 1 of the Caliendo Resort Series.

Book Review: Sunset Thunder by Shannyn Leah

Sunset Thunder (The Caliendo Resort #1)Sunset Thunder by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Violet Caliendo was a divorced wedding coordinator at her family owned resort. How could it be a problem to plan her ex-husband’s wedding with the ex-employee from the resort?

Violet felt she could do it even if that meant coming face to face with Ryder Carlex.

Ryder the playboy that Joel had used as his best man, again. Just as he had at her own wedding with Joel. Her feelings about Ryder are so intense. Joel had shared so many stories about his debauchery that disgusted her.

Ryder was wonderfully written. He is so complex and has secrets that he refuses to let come to light. He will endure any gossip and stories to keep his secrets closeted away.

The story was great. With characters that are well rounded and have minds of their own. Marc from the McAdams Sisters series has an active role in this story. He is always fun, and the family all know how to get him riled up.

Violet and Ryder keep coming together and it just keeps getting hotter and hotter for them. They only have to worry about Joel, her family, oh yeah and her kids. There are secrets that have the potential to hurt so many people. It doesn’t help that Robert Caliendo’s secret room is being invaded by the family in order to make amends. That means secrets are being brought out into the open.

Shannyn Leah has really started this new series with a bang. This book was hard to put down. It was filled with laughter, pain and love. Each facet was beautifully written.

I am now going to read Sunset Rivalry. I can’t wait to delve into this story. I can depend on Shannyn to bring me a great story to sink my teeth into.

Book Reviews: McAdams Sisters Series Books 3.5 – 5 by Shannyn Leah

Book 3.5 of the McAdams Sisters Series

Candy Crumble (The McAdams Sisters, #3.5Candy Crumble (The McAdams Sisters, #3.5 by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Candy Crumble is the prequel to Candy Love and it is a good way to know more about Abby and Riley. They are both loose wires that have excess baggage and dangerous remedies for their pain.

This was book 3.5 of the McAdams Sisters series and it had some great insight into Peyton, Kate as well as Abby.

It was a sad time for Abby, her Grandmother had just passed away and she was totally feeling alone. She had lived with her Grandmother and was the one that found her that morning. Riley did not really want to get involved with the neighbors, but sometimes it seemed that he did care for Abby. He just wasn’t sure that he was ready to feel anything for anyone. He has a lot to work out. So does Abby.

I can not wait for the next book in the series. This family is so complex and human. I love meeting each one of them and learning their story. I actually won this book during a Valentine giveaway! I am so happy I won.

Book 4 of the McAdams Sisters Series

Lakeshore Candy (The McAdams Sisters #4)Lakeshore Candy by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was fortunate enough for the Author to provide me with a copy of Candy love. That is exactly what this book is like. It is like a huge bowl of candy wrapped up in cellophane. This couple crackles with electricity and they are deliciously sweet.

We get to know Abby in a way that we had not before. The hard partying girl that broke when her grandmother died actually has been depending on Riley Boyd to help her through. Riley has been quietly supporting her as a good friend should through nightmares and loneliness.

Riley starts to see her in a new way after being there for her after her grandmother passed away and he doesn’t want to ruin this friendship with lusty thoughts and actions. He resists, man does he resist. When you are tempted by a candy addict it is harder to say no to your own desires. Then it seems that Abby has a few lusty thoughts of her own. This story has pain and secrets that have to be dealt with if Abby and Riley have a chance at happiness. Secrets that he does not want to divulge to her.

The McAdams’ sisters are all accounted for in this book and once again, it is a pleasure to see how they are getting on in their own lives. Abby is the baby of the family, so she has all of these sisters behind her. She also has a twin brother, Avery. He has been missing through all the other books, but makes a surprise appearance in Candy Love. It is good to meet him and see what he has been up to. I hope there is more to his story in future books. He looks like he could be trouble.

This fourth book does not disappoint, I loved it as I have all the previous books and still thirst for more stories about this family.

Book 5 of the McAdams Sisters series

Lakeshore Lyrics (The McAdams Sisters, #5)Lakeshore Lyrics by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I now have read each of the McAdam’s books and I loved them all. Avery was the only brother and I loved the way that Shannyn Leah brought him to life in a warm loving and extremely sexy way.

Cece Boyd and Avery met when her brother, Riley brought Abby back to his home in Oakston. Her relationship with Abby started off rocky but there were definite sparks flying between Cece and Avery.

Then when this book opens it has been a few months since that first meeting. A few months of Cece hiding from Avery.

Cece has been preparing to manage bands again since Riley is back as CEO of Torsten Label. Riley decided that the band deserved the best so he assigned Cece to manage Avery’s band.

Cece is very professional but she is also very interested in Avery. The story is fresh and has so many layers. There are secrets that when revealed might break up any chance they have. But secrets that are not revealed leave room for mistrust and confusion. That certainly was the case here.

The music festival was so vividly written I feel like I was there, grabbing up souvenirs and meeting the bands.

The McAdam’s family are all accounted for here and you get to share some more time with the couples. Peyton is getting closer to having her babies.

There are many side stories that just pull you in and make you feel that you really know and love this family. I want to read about the Caliendo family in the Lake series with the hopes that the McAdams’ couples show up.

This series is really a great one to read.

Book Review of Books 1-3 of the McAdams Sisters Series by Shannyn Leah

Lakeshore Secrets (The McAdams Sisters #1)Lakeshore Secrets by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was the first book in the series about your McAdams sisters. Kate has not been back home since she left to go to college and make a life for herself. Six years after leaving she returns for the funeral of her much loved grandmother.

She left with secrets and has no plans of addressing those secrets with anyone. Especially Marc. He was her boyfriend up until she walked out of his life.

Kate returns to find her sisters in various situations that she did not expect. She is reminded of how she had tried to fill her mothers shoes after her death. This is not the time to find herself attracted to Marc again.

This story is a great story about going home again and family bonds. I can’t wait to read the next book In the series.

Lakeshore Legend (The McAdams Sisters, #2)Lakeshore Legend by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another winner of a McAdams’ sisters book. This one was about Peyton McAdams. Colt Patterson grew up next door to the family and had always enticed Peyton.

There was an incident when he was home last that involved them naked in the shower getting to know each other better. The next day he was on the arm of some model type girl. Peyton did not want to have anything else to do with Colt.

Peyton and her sisters were busy opening their new store in town but the families were about to become connected in an unexpected turn of events. There was some other interaction going on in the McAdams’ house.

Colt was home with his mother trying to get over his divorce and bad knee. This book takes care of all the emotions that a situation like this would cause. Distrust, fear and especially the possibility of love are all present in this story.

Shannyn Leah has made a great series covering this sisters. The family is funny together but they are fiercely protective of each other. I highly recommend this series, it keeps getting better and better.

Lakeshore Love (The McAdams Sisters, #3)Lakeshore Love by Shannyn Leah
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my third McAdams Sisters book and I just connected with Jake and Sydney in such a positivc manner. Jake is the owner of the Cliff House where Sydney had always worked until the sisters opened their soap shop.

Sydney and Jake had a history that was filled with secrets and regrets. The first problem was that they secretly loved each other and neither of them admitted it.
It was only when Sydney got drunk and ended up with Jake at his apartment that she confessed her love to him.
Problem # two was that she had no memory of that night.
Problem #three was that Jake had left without any explanation before and left a confused and lost Sydney.
Problem #four was that Sydney wasn’t sure she could count on him not to leave her again.

Those four problems were really only the tip of the iceberg. This book had a lot to cover and a lot to solve if we got the Happy ever after we all want. There were side characters that filled the pages with anger, fear and uncertainty. This story is so good I did not want to take a break to sleep. I did and came back to it fresh in the morning in a hurry to find out what was going to happen next. I am anxious to see what else is in store in the By The Lake Series.
