My friend—we’ll call her A for reasons that will become clear—belonged to an online support group for unpublished authors. Everybody was nice and, as the name implies, supportive. Members even met in person and became true friends, like A and one of the women she met in the group (we’ll call her B). But then something happened.
October 23, 2016, Benjamin Thomas asked what I thought about emulating #ComedybookWeek with an event for Mystery and Thriller books. I was excited about the idea. We began to brainstorm and the picture of this huge event started coming together. A multi-platform blow-out event with authors, bloggers, and other media people working together to support this genre. Benjamin procured the www.mysterythrillerweek.com site and we were off.
In just one day, we had several authors on board and a writing specialist willing to not just provide copies of her books, but provide a hands-on workshop for writers through the hour hosting project on Facebook. Rayne Hall has experience and is willing to share her knowledge live on Facebook.
Once we saw that there was genuine interest Benjamin recruited Sherrie Marshall onto the team. Sherrie was a great addition and has spearheaded some creative contest ideas for the week. She is working on the newest contest opportunity and is excited to be able to announce it very soon.
J. Schlenker has created a badge for the inaugural participants for posting on their blog and websites. It looks amazing on an email too.
What else is needed to make this a huge success? Fans, bloggers, more authors, aspiring mystery thriller writers, aspiring narrators, and anyone that wants to learn writing skills technique from the best. So if you were inspired by the groovy badges, the potential to win the amazing contest prizes, to meet favorite and new authors, then Mystery Thriller Week is the place to be in February. Now is the time to sign up to enjoy all the perks and opportunities.
We already have some hard hitters in the blogging community and would love to see you added to the list along with Bookish Wormy, The Blithering Bibliomaniacs, The Suspense Is Thrilling Me and over 30 more.

There are audiobooks being provided by participating authors and narrators like Jake Urry, the new voice in Thrillers and Mysteries.
Interviews are being scheduled and this could be your time to interview on of the almost 75 authors and specialists signed up thus far. Truly there is something for everyone. Feel free to ask questions. There is so much going on, it would take a massive blog post to cover it all.
I can’t wait to work with you all on #MTW!
November began on a positive note with NaNoWriMo going full swing. Wrote every day and maintained a nice little schedule. For those that would never believe it, I maxed out in my multitasking. I got involved with #MysteryThrillerWeek and between setting up the bones for the participating bloggers, authors, and specialists with Benjamin and Sherrie, and working on the Facebook page for the hourly hosting , I missed a day of writing. Do I pick up today and pretend it didn’t happen? I am in a quandary.
I am writing, letter, schedules, my three-month production plan, reviews, and more letters. I am having a blast. I am excited about the week. I am excited to be making new friends and finding new authors and their work.
Locating book reviewers and requesting that they join in and sending those tweets to publicists, authors, bloggers and trying not to be annoying. It is a juggling act. Perfect for a multitasker like me. Then I realized I had not written a word for NaNo yesterday. I was pretty aggravated with myself. I mean I am a queen at multitasking. How had that happened? So instead of racing over to Scrivener and whipping out a few words, I decided to write a blog post, a few more contact letter, Tweet out a few invitations, and hold a chat with Sian, Benjamin, and Sherrie. Oh yes, even I have multitasking limits. This was enlightening to me. Today I grew in knowledge of myself. I have a limit and once I reach it, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
By the way, if you have not joined us for #MysteryThrillerWeek now is the time. We are getting some excellent authors willing to provide books for review, interviews and those much loved Character Q&A’s. Just think of it like this, if you sign up, you get to see one of those letters I have been writing. That’s right! An official Welcome letter will wing its way to you compliments of the Events Team!

Reviews and word counts are one of the best parts of blogging for me. Until August, they were all I did, now I have added promoting. Adding a few new aspects to my blog and they are opening doors I never expected. Here I am at a certain age, watching the indie and literary world filling in the cracks and crevices which make me feel complete. Connecting with authors, offering, and receiving reviews, is an amazingly beautiful process. Being aided by kind intelligent people and fellow bloggers on this learning curve. What a ride this is!
Blogging, when I first signed up with WordPress, was nothing I understood. I thought it was similar to journaling. I signed up and sadly never came back. Not until October of 2015. When WordPress congratulated me on my anniversary of six years, with not one post, I decided to post one. So I put up two small stories and walked away again for a month. Then I noticed that I could connect my Goodreads book reviews to my blog and I posted that first bad boy, and never looked back.
Today, I use my blog to promote other authors, their books, their blogs, and my own writing. Shockingly, I have made some wonderful friendships in less than one year. People that are friendly, supportive, talented, intelligent, kind, chatty, and basically, just down right wonderful.
I will be gone over the weekend. I will be reading of course, while I tend to some personal business in Alabama. I am going to schedule a few posts just to keep my hand in and I will be back at it on Monday.
September is beginning a whole new episode of this life story, and I am standing on the precipice ready to jump and see what happens when the current lifts me high in the air! From that height, I can crash and burn, or I can soar.
